In Java Edition, Sharpness adds 0.5 * level + 0.5
extra damage.
In Bedrock Edition, each level of Sharpness adds 1.25 extra damage.
An anvil is required to for the player to apply Sharpness V to a wooden, stone, iron, diamond, or netherite weapon, though iron and diamond swords with it can generate in end city and bastion remnant chests. Golden weapons can get Sharpness V through enchanting.
